Rick Dodson, Kiwanis Club of Chester Programs Chairperson
Rick Dodson continues to work in tradition with his predecessors to obtain quality speakers. Rick announced that either Mark Fausz or Larry Madison will speak next week concerning Chester Community Association's Chester Summit. Tom Williams thanked his fundraising committee members Joan Benton, Allen Shore and David Elswick for their participation in forming several recommendations for 2010 and 2011 fundraising events for our club. Tom described each event and made recommendations concerning how our club should proceed. Unfortunately, there was not a quorum to hold the planned board meeting, so the recommendation to the board will be deferred to a make up board meeting to be held next week. Inter-club chairperson Kris Der reminded everyone of the inter-club meeting with the Circle K Club at Bryant Stratton College (8141 Hull Street) from 5:30 till 6:15 P.M. on March 2. Allen Shore requested that anyone who wishes to help out with Portfolio Career Day mock student interviews on March 24 at Bryant Stratton College should contact him for details.

Kevin Bacon (L), Harris Bacon (M), Tom Hoof (R)
Guest speakers were Kevin Bacon, his dad Harris Bacon and Tom Hoof. Harris and Tom are civilian members, two of 28, that are charged with providing administrative oversight for Crime Solvers. Harris has been President twice and Tom Hoof four times. Crime Solvers was created to overcome the two main problems which prevent law enforcement from obtaining information about crimes from citizens. Fear and apathy. Crime Solvers mission is to provide an anonymous means to the public for reporting information to the police about crime. The citizens can provide tips without disclosing their names. Tips are provided to two full time Police Coordinators who are responsible for the day to day operation of Crime Solvers. Tips do not come through the law enforcement channel. Rewards, which are approved by the civilian member board, are paid for tips that lead to an arrest. In this day and age, telephone calls are only ones means of receiving tips. Text-a-tip and web site tips are very popular. Crime Solvers has a speakers bureau and can provide a speaker for any event. Contact (804) 748-1278.
